The Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act 130 of 1993 (COIDA) is South Africa’s principal legislation for workplace injury and disease compensation.

Its primary aim is to provide compensation for disablement or death resulting from occupational injuries or diseases sustained in the course of employment, and to regulate related matters such as claims, benefits, and employer responsibilities.

COIDA applies to all employees in South Africa, including seamen and airmen, and covers accidents occurring both within and outside the Republic under certain conditions.
