Displaying Compulsory Wall Charts in the Workplace

A wall chart is a summary of legislation and should be displayed where it can be seen and read by all employees to raise awareness of the legislation. By law, employers are obligated to display certain wall charts at the workplace.

Summary of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA):
Section 30 of the BCEA, as amended, requires all employers to display the employee’s rights at the  workplace. It must be in the prescribed form and displayed in the official language(s) spoken by employees at the workplace.

Summary of the Employment Equity Act (EEA):
Section 25(1) of the Employment Equity Act requires employers to display a summary of the Act.

Summary of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 (OHSA):
A copy of the Act and readily available relevant regulations must be present in a workplace as soon as employers have five or more persons in their employment.

Development Act, and Tobacco Products Control Act, depending on their industry.
